Rehabbing Wild Bunnies Day 15

20 days old
Interesting to note that the bunnies adopted a “home base” spot and would leave and come back to that one certain area. We took their tissue box with dirt out of the cage, and put it on the ground over an indention. The bunnies used the indention under the tissue box as home base. They traveled quite a distance from this home base, then would return and crawl under the tissue box. Especially if they heard a loud noise in the distance they would return and hide. We’re really hoping this is a good indication that their natural instincts will indeed kick in when it is time to release them. Internet sources indicate weaning should occur at 4-5 weeks of age, the buns should be released when they run from you, and are about 5″ long.

There are 22 days of reports on the bunnies. You are at Day 15, we skipped a few days. Click here to read Day 19.
